Research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that nearly 50% of UK employees report mental health challenges due to poor management.

According to Mind, a UK mental health charity, poor relationships with managers are one of the top causes of work-related mental health issues.

How do we solve this?

Wellbeing Champions

Wellbeing champions for years as been known for making a group of enthusiastic individuals about mental health push on and represent the workplace for the betterment of wellbeing.

Over the years this has meant many people have taken up training such as Mental health first aid and other programs. The issue here is that training was conducted, safeguarding and follow up mentorship was not. Resulting in lots of failed champions, first aiders and hurt employees. It is time that changed.

With our new wellbeing champions training we address every area of employee wellbeing, along with giving champions safeguarding and back up support for their role. This method protects every area of the champion so that they aren’t exposed to harm whilst trying to do good.

Mental Health At Work

Course Duration: Two full days

Objective: To equip employees and managers with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand and promote mental health in the workplace.

Day 1: Understanding Mental Health

Module 1: Introduction to Mental Health

Module 3: Recognising Mental Health Issues

Module 4: Legal and Ethical Considerations

Day 2: Promoting Mental Health at Work

Module 5: Creating a Supportive Work Environment

Module 9: Handling Mental Health Disclosures

Evaluation and Assessment: Role-playing exercises and case studies for practical application. Group discussions and feedback sessions.

Creating Safer Places To Work

Course Duration: One half day

Objective: To equip employees and managers with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand and promote psychological safety at work.

Day 1: Understanding psychological safety

Module 1: Leadership commitment

Module 2: Setting clear expectations

Module 3: Effective communication

Module 4: Building trust

Module 5: Accountability

Module 6: Developing inclusive policies

Module 7: Displaying empathy & compassion

Module 8: Continuous improvement (B.U.S.T.A method)

Module 9: Psychological safety metrics

Module 10: Celebrating success

Creating Safeguarding Policies

Course Duration: One half day

Objective: To equip employees and managers with a policy which reflects their current resources, responsibilities, objectives and compliance.

Day 1: Understanding safeguarding policies

Module 1: What is a safeguarding policy

Module 2: What does a policy look like

Module 3: What should it involve from the employer

Module 4: Creating your own safeguarding policy

Module 5: How to enforce your policy

Evaluation and Assessment: Role-playing exercises and case studies for practical application. Group discussions and feedback sessions.

Health, Fitness & Nutrition At Work

Course Duration: One half day

Objective: To equip employees and managers with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to understand and promote a healthy lifestyle at work.

Day 1: Understanding health fitness & nutrition

Module 1: What is health

Module 2: Exercise types & activity expectations

Module 3: Health and fitness benefits to the work place

Module 4: Nutrition guidelines and dieting types

Module 5: Healthy language and conversation guidelines

Module 6: Nutrition benefits for workplaces

Module 7: Health, Fitness & Nutrition resources

Evaluation and Assessment: Role-playing exercises and case studies for practical application. Group discussions and feedback sessions.

Safeguarding & Mentorship

Post training days, we conduct mentorship every two months to ensure the champions have up to date knowledge and support. During these sessions we will complete the following.

  • Recap of previous two months events/address champions notes and concerns.

  • Offer support for any issues that have occurred which are out of our control such as counselling or other referrals.

  • Recap key topics of the modules covered in training

  • Assess knowledge of modules covered in training

  • Reinforce the structure of their safeguarding policy for champions and employees benefit.

Every champion is safeguarded by our policy which includes key responsibilities of Teesside Health Co, responsibilities of champions and the resources available to them.
